Viatcheslav Moshe Kantor is a very prominent Russian well known around the world At the moment, Kantor is a leader in a number of organizations. He is among those considered the richest men in Russia as a result of his involvement in various trade ventures. What brought him to limelight were his efforts at opposing xenophobia, anti-Semitism and modern-day Nazism. He has been successfully involved in many endeavours to improve the quality of life for the Jews around the world. The following are some of his global achievements.
Fighting For Reconciliation and Tolerance
One of the programs in which Kantor has been an active participant in the reconciliation efforts aimed at bringing the inhabitants of the European continent together. He is the founder of the European Council on tolerance and reconciliation (ECTR). The society is made up of former heads of state across Europe and also Nobel Prize laureates who work towards promotion of understanding and peace. The ECTR aims at achieving its objectives by speaking out against social evils such as religious and social extremism, xenophobia and racial discrimination.
Taking Part in the Jewish Council Leadership
The European Jewish Council was created with the intention of looking after the interests of the Jewish people across Europe. Celebrations and memorials of events such as the Holocaust in which the Jewish people were involved is one of the ways through which this council hopes to achieve its goals. Such occurrences are commemorated so that people would not forget the past and end up doing exactly what was done then. Kantor’s work through this council is to ensure that the Jewish culture and way of life is preserved and passed on for posterity. He has served as the president of the council since 2007.
Involved in Atomic Weapons Demilitarization Programs
Kantor pioneered and still leads the International Luxembourg Forum on Preventing Nuclear Catastrophe. This forum was formed with the sole purpose of atomic weapons demilitarization by countries around the world. The forum takes and organizes discussions on nuclear security, and drafts recommendations towards encouraging countries that are currently involved in nuclear arms race to consider disarmament as a viable option for global peace. The organization takes part in talks with government authorities in various countries to assess the risk posed by having weapons of mass destruction and taking measures to ensure that the threats are dealt with accordingly.
Preservation of Art
In addition to these achievements, Moshe Kantor created the Museum Of Avant-Garde Mastery in 2001 which is located in Moscow, Russia. The gallery is dedicated to the promotion and preservation of art, and it currently boasts of the most renowned pieces of the Russian avant-garde art of the 20th century. The history of the former Russian empire for the period 1890 and 1930 is thus preserved in the gallery.
